Safety plan

Safety is as important as you make it and having a plan is important. Don’t skim over this section. It starts with being able to prepare your kids for wrestling, teach them proper hygiene practices, teach them the rules, and how to be aware of their surroundings. Then we will get into the emergency plan and what your steps should be during an incident. Your safety plan is how you will prevent, prepare for, and respond to potential safety events.

Preparation is key to the success of anything we do. Well, you already know that since you’re reading this. Imprinting the success plan to ensure the safety of your wrestlers onto your parents is the first step. What does this look like? It’s simple. Create an equipment checklist. You’ll want to include things like headgear, shoes, and mouth pieces.

Hot tip: If there is a specific type of head gear or shoes that you don’t wan’t your kids wearing, list it as a no-no!

Additionally, include the do’s and don’ts for gear. For my practice rooms I have no zippers and pockets rule and this is included on my equipment checklist. The bottom line is I want my parents to know up front what they can do to make sure their child is safe.
